I’ve been in finance my entire career, starting out 29 years ago working in practice. Most of my clients were farmers and their records were brought to us tied with baler twine and covered in mud and muck!
I qualified as a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and then later as a Taxation Technician. I’ve worked for a really diverse range of companies, from Deputy Accountant with an Insurance Company to Finance Director of a small international company. My interest has always been with small companies and helping them to use vital financial information to help them run their businesses more successfully.
Small companies don’t have the luxury of an in-house trained accountant and most don’t have accurate or reliable monthly management accounts to make important strategic decisions with.
Very few prepare weekly cash flows or can see 3 months ahead, and many struggle when it comes to paying their Vat and Corporation Tax. I love working with business owners to train them and their book keepers so they can have accurate monthly reports that make running their businesses easier, less stressful and more profitable. Also to show them how to manage their cash flow, and to really know and understand their numbers.
