Financial skills training
Financial skills training
the training and tools we’ve had from Serena have changed our world for the better
Cash flow training
Cash flow forecasting and control is critical to the ongoing success of your business. We provide the templates you need to be in full control of your cash flow and we train you how to easily stay on top of your forecasting daily, weekly or monthly – whatever’s right for your business. We’ll show you how best to plan for tax bills and teach you about building up cash buffers. Uncontrolled and erratic cash flow should become a thing of the past!
We’ll get you thinking about:
Book keeper & finance team training
Your book keeper or finance team carry a huge amount of responsibility, and have your financial future in their hands. In many small companies these key staff don’t have any accounting qualifications and are often self-taught. So we make sure that your team have the skills they need to properly control and report on your finances.
We use our unique skills training road map to assess current skills and understanding and to create a training plan that suits your business:
Ongoing support coaching for finance staff
Following on from the financial training where we put the right processes, reconciliations, controls and management information in place, we support your finance team to keep developing their financial skills and make sure everything they’ve learned gets embedded.
Having a weekly or fortnightly phone call booked means your staff always have someone to bounce things off, make sure they are on the right track, and they have someone to be accountable to – the most powerful aspect of making things happen.
We usually also support your finance team, especially in the early months following their training, by being there during month end for queries, questions and to review the accounts before they’re used by the business to make decisions.
This builds strong controls and analytical skills as we train them to understand what the numbers mean, how to spot when something isn’t right, and how to analyse the accounts so they can give you better information
Management team training
The decisions your management take every day have a direct impact on your bottom line, and yet most managers don’t understand how the finances work, or how their decisions affect your profit and cash.
We continually find that a lack of understanding around gross margin and overheads is one of the biggest problems in a business, so training your management team to really understand how they affect and control your financial position is a critical part of your financial strategy. These are the most common areas we train management teams on.
Business owner training
You might know this as “finance for non-financial managers” (we think that sounds incredibly dull!)
So we prefer to call it “how to make your business work financially for you”
Just because you own a business it’s unlikely you also qualified as an accountant, and yet you’re expected to understand all things financial.
The most common things we help business owners understand are:
Training is just entertainment…..
There’s a saying that “training without coaching is just entertainment!”
And after many years of providing both training and coaching I’m convinced this is true!
That’s why I qualified as an NLP coach and Practitioner, because I could see the difference in my clients’ bottom line profit when they embedded their learning with coaching, and had accountability to get the important stuff done.
