Controlling The F Word’s ‘mission’ isn’t just twiddling knobs and occasionally looking at the computer readouts; I take a broad view of direction, and make sure that I help translate Serena’s visions into genuine forward movement towards our collective goal of providing effective and exemplary financial training to our fellow SMEstronauts. In my previous 8 years as a director of a company with a parabolic flight path, I have shared in the successful launch and traumatic loss-of-orbit that it is our mission to avert here at The F Word, and this invaluable experience – along with my extensive roles as a teacher, project manager, manager, and administrator – gives me the perfect blend of skills to gently nudge the thrusters, check the co-ordinates, and keep track of the fuel that is vital in ensuring that The F Word maintains the appropriate vector to take our clients into the upper atmosphere, whilst avoiding the burn of unexpected re-entry for them (or us!). Although based in the East Midlands, rather than East Texas, I enjoy considering the future, contemplating the shape of the world out of the window, and ensuring that The F Word both knows where it has been, and has identified where it can go in the future.
